Support for trainees

Cancer Research UK Leeds Centre Clinical Fellows and Scientific (non-Clinical) PhD students receive mentoring and support from distinguished world-class cancer researchers, and are embedded within successful cancer research groups.  Trainees have the opportunity to take part in training conferences, courses and workshops for postgraduate and postdoctoral staff organised by the Centre, Cancer Research UK or our partners.

Individuals have access to career development through the University Staff Review and Development Scheme (SRDS). Our Early Career Researchers receive regular appraisal and career advice from their Section Heads.

Faculty Graduate Schools

The University’s Faculty Graduate Schools provide a uniform and strategic approach to the recruitment, supervision and monitoring of graduate research students. The Graduate Schools ensure that high quality support and advice are available for students to undertake appropriate research projects, and throughout their studies. Students provisionally register for their higher degree, and are fully registered after a satisfactory first year report and independent review. All graduate research students must agree a generic skills training programme at the outset, and are required to keep a personal portfolio of skills.
